About Us

Richard Seymour

I have been working with nonprofits for over forty years. In 2000 I helped found Free Geek, the Oregon organization that refurbishes and recycles discarded computers in order to provide nonprofits and volunteers with free computers. After a sixteen year stint at Free Geek, I founded Mahonia Consulting to provide organization development, strategic planning, and interim director services to a variety of community groups in Portland.

From 2018 until recently, I served as Finance Director and then Chief Financial Officer to Bradley Angle, an organization founded in 1975 to serve survivors of domestic violence.

After leaving Bradley Angle in 2026, I established Handsome Fluke Advising. I'm now accepting new clients among small nonprofits and businesses who need a steady, experienced hand with their finances.

I spend my free time in the garden and working on an epic fantasy novel that may never get published.

Fluke

My name is not “Handsome Fluke”. It’s just Fluke, but people tell me I’m handsome.

I met Richard at an adoption event after the pandemic when I was a six month old puppy. I now weigh a hundred pounds, and my DNA tests say that I am Rottweiler-Boxer-Labrador mix. Many people think I am a Rhodesian Ridgeback, the fierce African dog bred to chase away lions. In fact, I am 1% Ridgeback, and there have been no lions in the neighborhood since I got here.

I am the organization's Chief Outreach Officer and overall supervisor of goofiness. My main job is to keep everyone happy by being happy myself.

I like diving into the river, rolling in the grass, and surveying the neighborhood for the perfect spot to bury bones. I also like finding water bottles and bringing them back to the home office. Most of my friend dogs live in the Lents neighborhood of east Portland, and I jump up to give whoever I meet a sloppy kiss on the nose. My head is very hard, so be careful!
